Tuesday Nov. 4th
First things first!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM!!!!! Yep, Tim is another year older. The sad part about today is that he has to work on his birthday and I don't. Yeah, Jess has today off because of the election. They are using the schools as polling places. So, this leaves me with plenty of time to get ready for celebrating Tim's B-day.
Well, it has been awhile since I have written so I guess I should update everyone. We went to see Dr. Waxman at the end of Oct. Everything was good. Tim got to meet Dr. Waxman and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. She then told us that our next appointment would be an ultrasound!!!! Yep, Nov. 20th is the big day! Hopefully the baby will cooperate and we will find out the sex. Another exciting thing is that my parents will be here that week!!!! Now on to the Bell's Palsy.... I still have it but it is getting much better. Last night I found out that I could whistle again!!! But let me back up a minute and tell you about everything. Last week I finished all of my meds for the Bell's Palsy. Unfortunately after coming off the meds my ear started to hurt again. By thursday I was calling my doctor again to make another appointment. So, on Halloween I was back in the Doctor's office. He said that there was a chance that I had mastoiditis as well as bell's palsy. He put me back on more prednesone and put me on ceflin. He said that the ceflin was a lot stronger than the amoxicillin. He also said that if the pain is still there after taking this round of meds then I will have to go in for a CT scan to see if there is an infection in the bone. If there is an infection then they will have to go in and scrape the bone. Yea, sounds like fun. Right now I am kinda down, because I have been on the Ceflin for 4 days now and I still have ear pain that keeps me up at night.
Other than that things have been really good. Just the other day I was using my baby heartbeat monitor and I actually heard the heartbeat!!! The directions say you are not suppose to be able to hear the heartbeat until the 3rd trimester. I was very excited, but of course the baby moved before tim could get the headphones on. Well I have put quite a bit of info into this blog so I will finish here and write again soon. Oh yes, one more thing... Our friends Ian and Janelle Thomas gave birth to their son Liam David Thomas on Monday Oct 27th!!!! Congrats and love to them and their new bundle of joy!!!!

Sat Oct 18th
hello everyone! We are back with another update. Tim and I are doing really good, or at least Tim is for the moment. Thanks to everyone who helped to make my birthday special! Its always nice to have you birthday on a weekend that way you already have the day off!!! Well I fully recovered from the stomach bug that I had a couple of weeks ago. Now, I see it spreading through the schools, hopefully I won't get it again. This week Tim had Monday off(Columbus Day), so nice 3 day weekend for him. I however am on a fall break. So, I had Thursday and Friday off. I thought I was going to use that time to get some small things done around the house. Someone else had other plans for me!!! It started on Wednesday with a pain in my ear. I have always been prone to ear infections, so I thought ok I will just get some meds on Thursday and I should be fine. On Thursday the pain was really bad and so I trudged off to my Doctors appointment. Just as sweet as Tim could be he met me there to be with me at the appointment. Well, both of our jaws hit the ground when the PA told us that it wasn't an ear infection at all. It was Mastoiditis. A viral infection in the mastoid bone. So she put me on Amoxicillian. We both went home and looked Mastoiditis up and found that it either comes from a ear infection not taken care of or the herpies simplex virus. Neither one of those things had been current in my life so we both thought it strange. Just wait it gets worse. So, Friday morning I wake up with Tim and have breakfast with him. At first I thought my left eye was just irritated from over using my contacts, but when I went to take my first bite of oatmeal and it fell out of my mouth I got worried. I asked Tim to look at my face and he said that my left side was droopy and my left eye was not closing all the way. I couldn't even smile!!! So again I called the doctor's office and they got me in right away. They looked me over and found that I have Bell's Palsy. Looking back the pain in my mastoid bone was the first symptom. Now, I did have to wait a while for my Doctor to coordinate with my obgyn about medicines I could take. They finally deciede that I could take prednisone. This medicine does not cross the placenta.
So, here I am with a droopy face. Taking Prednisone, Amoxicillian, and all my other prenatal stuff. I also have to use eye drops and and eye patch at night to keep my left eye closed. They say that Bell's palsy is fairly common in Pregnancy. Yea!!! for me!!!!! On the good side of news I felt the baby move for the first time last week!!! Cool experiance! Anyways, thats all for now!

back again! Sept 28th!
We have now hit the 14th week!!! Had a terrible time with sinus problems last week! All the drainage from the sinus is not good for morning sickness. To top it off I got some kind of stomach bug on Friday. Woke up feeling horrible and had to go to work because we had a field trip. Well while the kids had fun climbing on the firetruck, Ms. Jessica was throwing up on the side of the firehouse! I left work after we got back but I had to go to the ob, so I went to my appointment and got to hear the baby's heartbeat and everything seems to be good. We talked about me being sick and the ob said it was just a virus and should pass in 24 hours. Well, Its sunday and I still feel terrible. Not really sick but just really worn down. On top of it all the baby and I have discovered heartburn. So, as we speak Tim, the wonderful man that he is, is out buying me some tums. Welcome to pregnancy Jess!!! Other than that things are good and the doc cleared me to back to work full time as long as I still take it easy.

Tuesday Sept 16th
Boy its been a while since I wrote on this blog. Sorry it took so long. Things are good with us. Last week was a very interesting week. Tim left on Sunday for a tdy trip. Monday went fine and then when I woke up on Tuesday morning we had a problem. Sorry if it gets a little graphic but I started bleeding at about 5am that morning. Of course Jess freaked out!!!! Spent most of the morning crying uncontrollably. Tim called to say good morning around 7am and he finally got me calmed down enough to think logically. So, I called work and said I was not coming in and headed off to see Dr. Servy at 8am. I got checked out and Dr. Servy said that the placenta had pulled away from the uterus a tiny bit. And because the placenta is so vascular some of the blood vessels burst causing the bleeding. He did an ultrasound and the baby was fine but you could see where the blood was in the uterus. So, with that and this being such a special pregnancy he put me on bed rest for the rest of the week. I then spent the next 4 days going out of my mind. I also had an appointment on Friday with my regular obgyn Dr. Waxman. Of course she had no idea we were pregnant. So, I had to run through all the battery of test and blood work again. She also checked things out and said both the baby and i were fine. She still wanted me to spend the next two weeks on bed rest, but I talked with her and am trying to work half days until I see her again on the 26th. I am still taking it easy and not doing any heavy lifting. In fact Tim is very cautious of what I do at home. I must say I was very happy to see tim on Friday afternoon!!!! So, for right now the bleeding has stopped and I am taking it easy. It was just really hard to have that experience and to be alone. I think I would have reacted differently if Tim had been home. Anyways, things are back to normal now and the great news is that the baby is healthy and we are now in our 12th week!!! Yea for 3 months!!!!!

Friday Aug 29th
Boy the weeks go by fast!!! On Sunday we will be in week 10!!! Its been a pretty good week. Not too much going on. The morning (all day) sickness is still here. I do have better days than others, but it seems to rely on how much sleep I get that night. I still have a hard time sleeping even with my new pillow. I think its time for us to look at getting another bed. We are due and really have just been putting it off. This weekend we will once again be starting our Fantasy football. Its a really fun league with friends. We are also excited to watch Notre Dame play Jess' alma mater!!! Yep, hopefully Notre Dame will kick SDSU's butt!!!!! Our friend Connie will also be coming to spend the weekend with us since its a long weekend.
We did go to the Dr. yesterday. It was both a sad and happy day. We have now graduated to seeing our regular obgyn. So, sadly we had to say goodbye to all the people at Dr. Servy's. The good news is that we got to see the baby move this week. The baby certainly does not like to be poked, each time Dr. Servy moved the wand the baby moved!!! The heartbeat was up around 170, so all in all things look great! Jess is now off almost all of her meds. She just had one more to finish out and then we are done with those. We go to see the obgyn on Sept 12th. So, another two week wait!

Monday Aug 25th
Hey there!!!!! We are now into week 9! Last week went well, still feeling sick and smells are really getting to me now! My gag reflex is really bad. I have found that I cannot be anywhere near coffee! Sad for tim cause now he has to hide the coffee that he drinks. Being no surprise to anyone I can still eat potatoes!!!!! I went out and bought a special pillow to help me sleep at night and I am glad to say that I am getting much more sleep than I was last week! As for the home life there is not much else going on. School is good, we have a good class this year. Tim is still working hard. Oh, I did have some wonderful people send me some books to help me through the pregnancy! Thank you they are wonderful!
Well, I go back to the Dr. this thursday so we will see how things go... until then here is what the baby is doing this week: They well have most of their organs in place and start growing genitalia. Look back Friday for an update on the appointment!!!

Monday Aug 18th
Back on track! Man what a week. Its going to take me awhile to get back into school. I was so tired after work that I came home and slept, ate dinner, and then went back to bed. I haven't been sleeping real well so that doesn't help either. I spent the entire weekend sleeping. Tim and I did go for a walk on Sat and Sun but not much else. Well, tim worked in the yard, while I caught up on some sleep.
I went back to the dr. this past thursday and everything still looks good! I am now off my progesterone, but still am on the estrogen patches and the prometrium. I have now graduated to going every two weeks to the dr.!!!! Soon, I think I will be released to my regular obgyn. Baby news for the 8th week of pregnancy: the baby will grow eyes, hands and feet this week!!!!!

Friday Aug 8th
well another week has passed and we are glad its done!!! I have been working a whole lot this week to get my room ready for school on monday! I will be glad to get back into the groove of school where it won't be so hectic. Tim is doing good, work a usual. Although its a change for him to have to change diets. He is now on the Jessica diet!!! Yep, he tries to let me decide since I am the one with all the cravings. Unfortunately I am into really bland foods right now. Anything with a strong flavor is out for me! Its to the point where I don't even want a burrito!!!! Me without Mexican food??? Unbelievable.
Pregnancy update for this week. Well on Thursday we went in for our first sonogram. Tim and I are excited to say that we have one perfect little bean!!!! Yep, they only saw one baby. We are so happy with that. We would be happy with any number we had. It was really neat to see and hear the heart beat of the baby as well! It looked like a little blinking lentil bean! The heart rate was at 125. So, the doc said we are doing just fine. We go back next thursday for another visit with Dr. Servy.

Friday Aug 1st
Well,
Today signifies the last day of Summer for me!!!! There is still 1 week of summer left but that will be spent putting the room together for pre- k. So, in order to get everything together for our open house next Friday I will have to work on Sat and Sun this weekend. Other than that not much else to report Tim found out that he will be going on tdy in Sept. I also want to send out a big congrats to my mom since today is her last day of work!!!! Well done mom!!! I hope retirement is all you thought it would be! You have earned it!
Now on to pregnancy news for this week : Not too much has changed. On Wednesday I started having a little nausea and it has been with me since. No throwing up yet just feel yuck. I went to see Dr. Servy on Thursday for more blood work. They told me that everything was excellent! All my levels were great. I think my beta levels were up at 15,000. I know that number is good, but I don't know if it really means anything else. We have our first ultrasound on Thursday Aug 7th. So now we are back to the 1 week waiting game. Although with school starting I think it will go very fast.

We're Back!!!!!
I know it has been awhile since we have been on this site. Well we are back ! As most of you know Tim and I just found out that we are pregnant!!!! Very excited! We have been trying for about 4 years so this is a very big blessing for us. We thought we would use this blog to kinda keep a running diary of the pregnancy since most of our family is so far away. We may not be able to write everyday, but we will be writing at least once a week. We hope our family and friends will enjoy the page and provide any ideas or comments they think might help us have a healthy and happy pregnancy!!!!
Alright pregnancy update for this week: Went to the doctor on Tuesday for our first Blood test. Our beta number was 436 and my estrogen and progesterone were great. On Thursday I went back to have another blood test and my beta number was 950. The estrogen and progesterone were still good. I go back next thursday for one more test and then we move into sonograms and ultrasounds. I really don't have any symptoms yet except for being hungry and thirsty all the time and being very tired. This morning I woke up to a terrible leg cramp!!!! Other than that I have the occasional cramp that tells me everything is moving and growing. Hopefully the nausea will stay away from me!!!!
