16 more days till our due date!!!!

Yep we are back with another update. Sad to say that there is not much to update. We went to see the OB on Thursday and finally confirmed that we will have a c-section. Now we have to wait for the scheduling lady to call us and set up a specific date. Other than that Sophie had a great heartbeat and great movement. Oh yeah, at 37 weeks and 3 days we were not even dilated!!! My cervix is still hard. Sophie is still in a transverse position, so I don't see labor happening naturally any time soon. This is all very frustrating to me cause there are people all around me that are due around the same time and are already having their babies!!!! I know its not true but I feel like I am going to be the woman who ends up being pregnant for 46 years!!!! That, and I have to wait for some lady to take her sweet time scheduling our c-section. So, at this rate we may go until our due date or even past. Sorry for venting, I am just very frustrated and uncomfortable. Work is getting harder as I am having more difficulty getting around, and I am very exhausted when I come home. I feel that I should be able to do so much more and hate the fact that I cannot. I plan on working up until the day of our c-section or if by some miracle we go into labor, so essentially I have about 2 weeks of work left. Next week we see the high risk doctor on Wed and the OB on Thur. Hopefully, they will measure and weigh Sophie on Wed so we can guesstimate how big this little stinker is. We will make sure to let everyone know when we find out the date of our c-section, so for now just hold tight, make sure your seatbelt is fastened and enjoy the roller coaster ride we are on!!!!

We have 3 weeks left!!!

Yep, it looks like the doctors want to wait until the 39th week to do anything. If Sophie goes that long she will probably be delivered by C-section. So, Sophie will be born some time the week of March 23rd. Its getting down to the wire!!! At our visits this week both mommy and baby are doing great! My blood glucose levels are finally in order and my Hemoglobin A1C was at 4.6!!!! My blood pressure is great and I only have a little bit of swelling. Sophie is in the 67th percentile for size, which is pretty good considering she is a gestational diabetes baby! She is still in a transverse position and loves to cause mommy pain. Other than that things are pretty good. I am still working full time and probably will up until she is born. The only hard parts right now are that my belly is so big that I am always uncomfortable. Its hard to sleep at night and I still have to stay on this horrible diet. Well, thats our update for this week!

35 weeks and counting!!!!!

Hello all, thought I would drop in with another update on Sophie!!! Went to the High risk Doctor on this past Weds and everything was looking good. She really likes the food I am eating for this diet, yea for me!!! (dripping with sarcasm) It seems that Sophie weighs about 6lbs right now. It seems like a lot but I know that the ultrasound weight is not very accurate. The Doc also said that Sophie was in the 69th percentile in fetal development. The Doc said that was ok but they don't want her really to go any higher. When we were looking at the ultrasound the Doctor said that she could already see Sophie's little fat rolls!!!! That and she already has lots of hair and huge chubby cheeks and big lips!!!! As for me I got scolded for not drinking enough water which is causing me to have some Braxton Hicks contractions. So, I am suppose to be drinking a gallon of water a day! I am trying but that is a lot of water for someone who didn't drink more that 2 glasses of anything before she was pregnant!!!! I am just not a big drinker. One glass could last me all day and I would be fine. That and I still have this crummy cold. I am still taking antibiotics for it but my ears are still clogged and I am still coughing up huge amounts of phlegm(sorry if it TMI) ]. Other than that all the doggies are doing good and Tim is still my rock!!!! We spent the weekend working on Sophie's room. We are almost done!!! We just have to wait for the window people to come and install the new windows for the house on Wednesday!!! Yep, Sophie is getting a security window!!!! We needed new windows and now was the perfect time to do it. Anyways that's what is going on with us !!!

its been a long time!!!!

yep, I am back online! This blog will probably be a long entry since there is so much to catch up on. First off, December was great! We got to spend a wonderful week up in Michigan visiting the Murray clan! We were blessed to have snow every day we were there!!! We had a very nice Christmas with the family. The only hard part about the trip was traveling. I found out that driving for more than 5 hours while you are pregnant is not fun! As soon as we came back from Christmas I had to go in to take my glucose test. Two weeks later in January we found out that I failed the test so miserably that my ob was not going to give me another test. She decided to send me to a dietitian and then when I told my ob that we were already living a diabetic lifestyle (more or less) She decided to send me to a high risk ob. So, the next week Tim and I went to the new doctor. Oh yeah, Tim is now driving me around because I cannot fit my belly behind the wheel without it touching. So, we went to see Dr. Ware and let me say, they do alot more than the regular ob. First we had to go into a room and have a monitor put on my belly. The one Doppler records Sophie's heartbeat and then I had a button that I had to press each time that she moved. This way they could see if I was having any contractions or if Sophie was having problems with her heart. We were on that machine for 15 minutes and then we had to go to the ultrasound room. The lady there measured every part of Sophie!!! That room took about 45 minutes. We then had to wait for Dr. Ware to come in and do the ultrasound again! Then we had to go into a room to talk about my diet with Dr. Ware. All in all I think we at the appointment for at least 4 hours!!!! Since I am not a very tall person they put me on a 1800 calorie diet. I guess in any other circumstance it would be a great diet, but for a pregnant lady its not very much food at all. Now, I am suppose to eat 6 times a day and test my blood 5 times a day but take a look at my meal plan and see if its enough food Breakfast: 1 starch (no fruit or milk); 1 meat (1 ounce); and 1 fat (= 1 tbs butter) Morning Snack : 1 Starch ; 1 meat; (again no milk or fruit) Lunch : 3 Starches ( can include fruit and milk if you use 1 slice of bread) 2 meats; and 1 fat Afternoon snack : 1 fruit; 1 meat; 1 fat Dinner: 3 starches ( includes fruit or milk or veggies); 3 meats; 1 fat bedtime snack: 1 starch, (milk, no fruit) 1 meat; 1 fat It looks like a lot, but its not once you think about it. Your serving size is what kills ya. 1 fruit = 1 apple or 1/2 banana or 15 grapes. I can have 15 peanuts as a serving. So, I could go on but let me just say "I am always hungry!!!!" Needless to say that with the diet alone I am not able to control my blood sugar. I am on meds right now. That and the fact that the dosage has changed 3 times now since the 27th of Jan! That and I have to fight with the insurance to get my refills because they don't understand that when your dosage changes you need more pills and will have to refill sooner! So, the end of Jan and the beginning of Feb have been a real hard time for me. I am so frustrated with my diet and not being able to eat. Tim has been a big help in trying to make things easier for me and trying to eat what I eat. The only thing that keeps me on this diet is the health of Sophie! That is my new mantra about this diet " Do it for Sophie" but let me tell ya, when I come off this diet I am having a fully loaded baked potato with lots of fruit and a soda!!!!!! I am also putting in a picture of me at 34 weeks!!! Let me just say that this big belly is all Sophie cause I have lost about 5 pounds on this diet!!!!

Nov 28th

howdy all! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!! Ours was very nice. We got to have 2 thanksgivings! My parents, aunt Irene, and uncle John came to visit us last week. We had a really good time. My parents got to see their property and My mom and Aunt Irene got to go with me to my ultrasound!!! Its official we are having a girl! Sophie Irene is due March 30th. They said that everything looked great and that she was right on track. We also had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our friends here in the area. So, now the shopping begins!!! Mom and I picked out a theme for the room this past weekend and today I bought a crib. The theme for the room is going to be Ladybugs!!! I found the set at Burlington Coat Factory. Its made by a company called Kidsline. I have also found that Target and Walmart have a ladybug set that is very similar to the Kidsline one. I think the one at target is made by tiddlywinks and the one at Walmart is Lil' kids. Slowly but surely we are starting to put the room together. I also wanted to let people know that I have registered at Walmart and Target. Of course I don't have too much on there yet, but hopefully I will keep adding more as we go along. I have also added one of my favorite ultrasound pictures of Sophie. Its a side image of her! you can see her little nose and her smile.

Tuesday Nov. 4th

First things first!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM!!!!! Yep, Tim is another year older. The sad part about today is that he has to work on his birthday and I don't. Yeah, Jess has today off because of the election. They are using the schools as polling places. So, this leaves me with plenty of time to get ready for celebrating Tim's B-day. Well, it has been awhile since I have written so I guess I should update everyone. We went to see Dr. Waxman at the end of Oct. Everything was good. Tim got to meet Dr. Waxman and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. She then told us that our next appointment would be an ultrasound!!!! Yep, Nov. 20th is the big day! Hopefully the baby will cooperate and we will find out the sex. Another exciting thing is that my parents will be here that week!!!! Now on to the Bell's Palsy.... I still have it but it is getting much better. Last night I found out that I could whistle again!!! But let me back up a minute and tell you about everything. Last week I finished all of my meds for the Bell's Palsy. Unfortunately after coming off the meds my ear started to hurt again. By thursday I was calling my doctor again to make another appointment. So, on Halloween I was back in the Doctor's office. He said that there was a chance that I had mastoiditis as well as bell's palsy. He put me back on more prednesone and put me on ceflin. He said that the ceflin was a lot stronger than the amoxicillin. He also said that if the pain is still there after taking this round of meds then I will have to go in for a CT scan to see if there is an infection in the bone. If there is an infection then they will have to go in and scrape the bone. Yea, sounds like fun. Right now I am kinda down, because I have been on the Ceflin for 4 days now and I still have ear pain that keeps me up at night. Other than that things have been really good. Just the other day I was using my baby heartbeat monitor and I actually heard the heartbeat!!! The directions say you are not suppose to be able to hear the heartbeat until the 3rd trimester. I was very excited, but of course the baby moved before tim could get the headphones on. Well I have put quite a bit of info into this blog so I will finish here and write again soon. Oh yes, one more thing... Our friends Ian and Janelle Thomas gave birth to their son Liam David Thomas on Monday Oct 27th!!!! Congrats and love to them and their new bundle of joy!!!!

Sat Oct 18th

hello everyone! We are back with another update. Tim and I are doing really good, or at least Tim is for the moment. Thanks to everyone who helped to make my birthday special! Its always nice to have you birthday on a weekend that way you already have the day off!!! Well I fully recovered from the stomach bug that I had a couple of weeks ago. Now, I see it spreading through the schools, hopefully I won't get it again. This week Tim had Monday off(Columbus Day), so nice 3 day weekend for him. I however am on a fall break. So, I had Thursday and Friday off. I thought I was going to use that time to get some small things done around the house. Someone else had other plans for me!!! It started on Wednesday with a pain in my ear. I have always been prone to ear infections, so I thought ok I will just get some meds on Thursday and I should be fine. On Thursday the pain was really bad and so I trudged off to my Doctors appointment. Just as sweet as Tim could be he met me there to be with me at the appointment. Well, both of our jaws hit the ground when the PA told us that it wasn't an ear infection at all. It was Mastoiditis. A viral infection in the mastoid bone. So she put me on Amoxicillian. We both went home and looked Mastoiditis up and found that it either comes from a ear infection not taken care of or the herpies simplex virus. Neither one of those things had been current in my life so we both thought it strange. Just wait it gets worse. So, Friday morning I wake up with Tim and have breakfast with him. At first I thought my left eye was just irritated from over using my contacts, but when I went to take my first bite of oatmeal and it fell out of my mouth I got worried. I asked Tim to look at my face and he said that my left side was droopy and my left eye was not closing all the way. I couldn't even smile!!! So again I called the doctor's office and they got me in right away. They looked me over and found that I have Bell's Palsy. Looking back the pain in my mastoid bone was the first symptom. Now, I did have to wait a while for my Doctor to coordinate with my obgyn about medicines I could take. They finally deciede that I could take prednisone. This medicine does not cross the placenta. So, here I am with a droopy face. Taking Prednisone, Amoxicillian, and all my other prenatal stuff. I also have to use eye drops and and eye patch at night to keep my left eye closed. They say that Bell's palsy is fairly common in Pregnancy. Yea!!! for me!!!!! On the good side of news I felt the baby move for the first time last week!!! Cool experiance! Anyways, thats all for now!
