35 weeks and counting!!!!!

Hello all, thought I would drop in with another update on Sophie!!! Went to the High risk Doctor on this past Weds and everything was looking good. She really likes the food I am eating for this diet, yea for me!!! (dripping with sarcasm) It seems that Sophie weighs about 6lbs right now. It seems like a lot but I know that the ultrasound weight is not very accurate. The Doc also said that Sophie was in the 69th percentile in fetal development. The Doc said that was ok but they don't want her really to go any higher. When we were looking at the ultrasound the Doctor said that she could already see Sophie's little fat rolls!!!! That and she already has lots of hair and huge chubby cheeks and big lips!!!! As for me I got scolded for not drinking enough water which is causing me to have some Braxton Hicks contractions. So, I am suppose to be drinking a gallon of water a day! I am trying but that is a lot of water for someone who didn't drink more that 2 glasses of anything before she was pregnant!!!! I am just not a big drinker. One glass could last me all day and I would be fine. That and I still have this crummy cold. I am still taking antibiotics for it but my ears are still clogged and I am still coughing up huge amounts of phlegm(sorry if it TMI) ]. Other than that all the doggies are doing good and Tim is still my rock!!!! We spent the weekend working on Sophie's room. We are almost done!!! We just have to wait for the window people to come and install the new windows for the house on Wednesday!!! Yep, Sophie is getting a security window!!!! We needed new windows and now was the perfect time to do it. Anyways that's what is going on with us !!!

its been a long time!!!!

yep, I am back online! This blog will probably be a long entry since there is so much to catch up on. First off, December was great! We got to spend a wonderful week up in Michigan visiting the Murray clan! We were blessed to have snow every day we were there!!! We had a very nice Christmas with the family. The only hard part about the trip was traveling. I found out that driving for more than 5 hours while you are pregnant is not fun! As soon as we came back from Christmas I had to go in to take my glucose test. Two weeks later in January we found out that I failed the test so miserably that my ob was not going to give me another test. She decided to send me to a dietitian and then when I told my ob that we were already living a diabetic lifestyle (more or less) She decided to send me to a high risk ob. So, the next week Tim and I went to the new doctor. Oh yeah, Tim is now driving me around because I cannot fit my belly behind the wheel without it touching. So, we went to see Dr. Ware and let me say, they do alot more than the regular ob. First we had to go into a room and have a monitor put on my belly. The one Doppler records Sophie's heartbeat and then I had a button that I had to press each time that she moved. This way they could see if I was having any contractions or if Sophie was having problems with her heart. We were on that machine for 15 minutes and then we had to go to the ultrasound room. The lady there measured every part of Sophie!!! That room took about 45 minutes. We then had to wait for Dr. Ware to come in and do the ultrasound again! Then we had to go into a room to talk about my diet with Dr. Ware. All in all I think we at the appointment for at least 4 hours!!!! Since I am not a very tall person they put me on a 1800 calorie diet. I guess in any other circumstance it would be a great diet, but for a pregnant lady its not very much food at all. Now, I am suppose to eat 6 times a day and test my blood 5 times a day but take a look at my meal plan and see if its enough food Breakfast: 1 starch (no fruit or milk); 1 meat (1 ounce); and 1 fat (= 1 tbs butter) Morning Snack : 1 Starch ; 1 meat; (again no milk or fruit) Lunch : 3 Starches ( can include fruit and milk if you use 1 slice of bread) 2 meats; and 1 fat Afternoon snack : 1 fruit; 1 meat; 1 fat Dinner: 3 starches ( includes fruit or milk or veggies); 3 meats; 1 fat bedtime snack: 1 starch, (milk, no fruit) 1 meat; 1 fat It looks like a lot, but its not once you think about it. Your serving size is what kills ya. 1 fruit = 1 apple or 1/2 banana or 15 grapes. I can have 15 peanuts as a serving. So, I could go on but let me just say "I am always hungry!!!!" Needless to say that with the diet alone I am not able to control my blood sugar. I am on meds right now. That and the fact that the dosage has changed 3 times now since the 27th of Jan! That and I have to fight with the insurance to get my refills because they don't understand that when your dosage changes you need more pills and will have to refill sooner! So, the end of Jan and the beginning of Feb have been a real hard time for me. I am so frustrated with my diet and not being able to eat. Tim has been a big help in trying to make things easier for me and trying to eat what I eat. The only thing that keeps me on this diet is the health of Sophie! That is my new mantra about this diet " Do it for Sophie" but let me tell ya, when I come off this diet I am having a fully loaded baked potato with lots of fruit and a soda!!!!!! I am also putting in a picture of me at 34 weeks!!! Let me just say that this big belly is all Sophie cause I have lost about 5 pounds on this diet!!!!
